Murphy Beds come in two basic styles, named after the type of door found on the facing of the cabinet, Bi-Fold Murphy Beds and Panel Beds. Both styles consist of a bed that lifts up and stores inside a cabinet which is anchored to a wall. The fundamental differences are the way the bed cabinet opens, and the mechanism which assists in raising and lowering the bed. There is no difference in the comfort of the two styles of bed, but they require totally different internal mechanisms and there are distinct advantages and disadvantages to each.
