The duty of decluttering doesn’t have to be a painful process. If you’re looking to simplify your life and cut the clutter, theses 3 tips will help you tackle those tasks with ease!
1. Do a little everyday.
The best way to conquer clutter is to commit to doing a little everyday and follow through! By approaching your cleaning a little at a time, you will avoid yucky messes such as dishes piling up or trash overflowing. It is also important to remember that some decluttering chores won’t ever go away. By washing a few dishes each day or putting away a small basket of clothes every night, you will alleviate future stress and avoid unwanted clutter. If this is really tough for your schedule or you lack the day-to-day motivation, consider giving yourself a little reward for doing it every day like putting a quarter in a jar every time you do your chores or give your self a smile.
2. Have a place for everything.
In order to truly get a grasp on the clutter in your life, you must give everything a designated space. If not, things get put anywhere and everywhere. You must avoid simply throwing mail on the kitchen counter or shoving electronics in the nearest drawer. Become aware of your tendencies – maybe you throw your used towel over the door or kick your shoes off anywhere. First, notice your habits then commit to finding a place for everything and putting everything in it’s place. Understanding that one drawer might hold multiple items, you might want to take the time to label the drawer or cabinet. Labeling your storage space will save you time and stress when it comes to cleaning up.
3. Follow through.
The most important aspect of getting rid of clutter is the ability to follow through. You will not declutter your house overnight. Go slow. Take the time to finish your projects and follow through on each task before moving onto the next. Unfinished tasks will pile up and become overwhelming, creating more clutter at the end of the day. In order to truly transform your life and cut the clutter, you must stay committed. You CAN do it!
