Murphy beds have been around for over a century and have been used homes of all shapes and sizes. With so many different styles and designs available at More Space Place in Myrtle Beach, we wanted to introduce you to some of our most popular models. These space savers are perfect for homes, apartments, and condos.
Classic Murphy Bed
Let’s start off with the classic Murphy bed. This is the classic design from the inventor, William L. Murphy. Although it’s been modernized with durable materials and new technology for added safety and ease of use, it’s still the great space saver it was over a century ago. The cabinet doors conceal the bed when it’s stored away for a clean look and open up to reveal a comfortable bed. The entire unit can be customized to your style and design needs.
Panel beds are very similar to the Murphy bed but are even easier to use. This is because the bed’s mechanism is linked to the front cabinet panels, meaning that the bed can be pulled down in one movement. Panel beds come in other configurations including a sofa option. This gives our customers more options to fit their lifestyles and needs.
First, you see bookcases, and then you see a bed! Bookcase Murphy beds are one of our most popular models as they give a guest room a focal point and additional storage. To reveal the bed, simply push the bookcase doors to the side. This is a great option for our customers who want some extra drama. Different bookcase-style doors are available depending on the size of your bed.
In An Office
Murphy beds are also extremely common in an office as they let our customers double their space with a home office and guest room in one. Sometimes our customers will ask us to build a bed separate from the desk area. Other times we connect the units on one wall for a seamless look. We offer different cabinetry styles and colors to fit your needs.
Our horizontal beds are not as frequently used in Myrtle Beach but are perfect for smaller condos or apartments. The cabinet units are quite slim and use a similar mechanism to our panel wall bed models. Horizontal wall beds are very inconspicuous in a living room and are usually made for a twin or full-size mattress.
