Jeanie and Tom Dergay
Jeanie and Tom Dergay founded Wilmington Blind, Shutter & Closet Company in 1998. They have lived in Wilmington for over 20 years and truly enjoy opening their doors to the Wilmington community each and every morning. Jeanie began by helping out a few days out of the week and has now taken over operations. She loves meeting new people and showcasing new products to those looking to update or remodel their home.
Tom is a graduate of the NYU School of Business and has established several businesses in the Wilmington area over the years, including Dergy’s beer, the first microbrewery in Wilmington. Tom worked for Burlington Industries for 8 years before becoming part-owner of his own textile company for over 20 years. Tom now spends his time on a variety of business interests, though he still finds time to routinely provide a helping hand when and where needed. Tom and Jeanie have 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and, when not at work, love to relax out on the water enjoying what Wilmington has to offer.
Sally is originally from Chicago, but has lived in Wilmington for over 25 years. She is married and has 2 children. Sally has been with the company since 2003 and shares the same spirit as Jeanie—that coming to work every day is something to look forward to and appreciate. Sally is very involved in the local community as an active volunteer in local schools. Along with managing the store on a day-to-day basis with Jeanie, Sally is also a Certified Professional Hunter Douglas Dealer.
Alex has worked as our installer since 2008 and takes great pride in a job well done. His expertise is not limited to working with hands: He gets nothing but high praise from clients for his skill, conscientious work ethic and good-natured personality. Alex was born in Oregon, but grew up in Rocky Mount, NC. He attended UNCW and enjoys taking advantage of the recreational activities the Cape Fear Region has to offer. If he can be pried away from his work, you can find Alex fishing or golfing.
